Medical and scientific communications firm Obsidian, formerly known as Elements Communications, has announced a major restructure of its senior leadership team and a full agency rebrand as it embarks on a new chapter in its evolution.
Last year, Obsidian appointed Deesha Majithia as Managing Director, recruited med comms exec Charlotte Florence as Commercial Director, promoted Craig Kennedy to Finance Director and appointed April Williams, founder of EDI and talent consultancy Can?Did! as HR Director.
Under this new leadership team, Obsidian has grown its revenues by a stellar 22 per cent* and increased its client base by 33 per cent in the last 12 months.
This year, the 75-person firm owned by Clanwilliam, has further signalled its growth ambitions by appointing three new Business Unit Directors; Chris Pitman who has spent thirteen years with Obsidian, Dipi Kohli who joins from Ketchum and Francisca Costa who joins from OPEN Health.
Deesha Majithia comments: “Following a year of exceptional growth, we are thrilled to bring a new crop of exciting, senior talent that will power the agency towards an even brighter future.”
In addition to restructuring its senior management team, Obsidian has also rebranded with a new name, mission and brand identity.
Formerly known as Elements Communications, the agency has selected Obsidian as its new name. Obsidian is a volcanic rock that is formed over time from life’s essential elements – air, water, earth and fire. It’s a name that resonates with the agency’s story – bringing heritage and people together to help clients share the knowledge that is essential to patients’ lives.
Its new mission, “transforming healthcare through scientific communications” combines the firm’s long-standing commitment to scientific accuracy and rigour with its belief in the importance of innovative, tech-powered approaches to engaging with stakeholders in the healthcare space.
The new brand identity is inspired by a sunrise breaking over the horizon, representing a new era for the agency, the ever-changing landscape its clients operate in and the importance of new perspectives to solve emerging problems.
The agency, currently based in London Victoria, will also move into new offices near Chancery Lane at the end of 2024.
Deesha continues: “Over the last twenty years, we’ve built a vibrant agency with a reputation for excellence in medical and scientific communications. The new mission, office and brand identity, as well as deeper integration and collaboration with our fantastic parent company Clanwilliam, has re-energised the agency and fuelled our ambition for the next twenty.”
We are Obsidian and our mission is to transform healthcare through scientific communications to realise our vision of improving healthcare for everyone.
